I would have been startled, but I was warned Tarpons love to accompany divers on night dives, so I found myself delighted instead. They love snacking on the teeny fish that approach your light and have labrador retriever energy. I decided to name that Tarpon, and all subsequent Tarpons I encounter, “Tony.” All of my aquatic art begins as a sketch made underwater while I scuba dive. It was a moment of pure bliss: me, the squid, the coral and the sea.
