Nervous Nelly at Bari Reef

This painting began as a sketch underwater while I dove along Bari Reef in Bonaire, a Caribbean Island just north of Venezuela. During the dive I encountered an eel nestled within coral who looked at me with a shocked expression and I thought with delight – “Hello Nervous Nelly!” (Turns out eels are nocturnal and Nelly was just sleeping!)

This painting was featured in the inaugural season of Artisan Air, a documentary about creatives within the Air and Space Force.
