Not a Rainbow Fish

Juvenile Stoplight Parrotfish are stunning. Seeing them on the reef always reminds me of the story of The Rainbow Fish, but as I watch them chomp away on coral I can’t help but doubt they would share their scales!

All of my aquatic art begins as a sketch made underwater while I scuba dive. Upon the conclusion of the dive, I bring my sketches to the surface and separately paint the scenes which unfolded on the reef.

This work is custom framed under UV-filtering glass.
