Tony the Tarpon

The first time I ever saw a Tarpon was on a night dive: I moved my flashlight slightly to my left and noticed a massive mirror-like eye coasting along right beside me! I would have been startled, but I was warned Tarpons love to accompany divers on night dives, so I found myself delighted instead. They love snacking on the teeny fish that approach your light and have labrador retriever energy. I decided to name that Tarpon, and all subsequent Tarpons I encounter, “Tony.” 

All of my aquatic art begins as a sketch made underwater while I scuba dive. Upon the conclusion of the dive, I bring my sketches to the surface and paint the scenes which unfolded on the reef.
